I exist because you thought me
And I clamoured for my voice to be heard
For my energy to explode across the meaningful void of silence that exists between our worlds.
I dance between our worlds
I bring life to the lifeless, lyrics to the song, enchantment to the disillusioned
I am magical mystical moments that separate reality and dullness from freedom and spirit.
I lift the conscious to a greater sense of awareness
I create a depth stronger than the deep-rooted foundations on which you build your windiest cities.
I am lighter than air, a whim, a wish, a wistful glance into a wearied past,
A foray into a frozen forest of feelings that no-one else dare explore.
You give me breath and life and send me reluctantly skittering into a world of startling sterility.

This is for d’Verse meeting at the bar where we were asked to consider ars poetica which I think is the art of poetry. I guess I tried to see what it was like being a poem.
Love everything about this and especially that last line. I’m smiling at the idea of my pen sending words skittering onto the paper much less into the world! 🙂 Good response to the prompt! Love the voice of it.

Such a song of creation, a myth of your own with which to paint from that poetic palette. Brilliant.

This has to be my new favourite of your poems, Alison! I love the way the poem speaks and what it says,. I also love the echo of the last line of the first stanza ‘…my energy to explode across the meaningful void of silence that exists between our worlds’ in the first line of the second, ‘I dance between our worlds’; the alliteration that illuminates ‘I bring life to the lifeless, lyrics to the song’ and ‘I …a whim, a wish, a wistful glance into a wearied past’.

Nice line: “I bring life to the lifeless, lyrics to the song, enchantment to the disillusioned” All the justification one needs for poetry.

Love your descriptions of poetic inspiration, but your last line says why we write… a world of startling sterility! Creativity seems to be really lacking in what is presented to us these days.

And you are so brave to share and give your words light ~ This is my favorite part:
I am lighter than air, a whim, a wish, a wistful glance into a wearied past,
A foray into a frozen forest of feelings that no-one else dare explore.

Lot’s to like here – particularly liked – ‘a whim, a wish, a wistful glance into a wearied past ‘ and a ‘foray into a frozen forest of feelings’ – who needs a better excuse to write poetry than that?

I enjoyed the mounting energy of this poem, like a poem realizing its sentience and its deep-rooted importance to sustain not windy cities but life!
