English summers wouldn’t be the same
If families didn’t enjoy fun in the sun
Carnival queens and burger vans
Seaside singalongs and festival fun.
We went to the Morecambe Carnival
With bagpipes and drums on hand
The parade moved stately down the prom
To the sound of the big brass band.
Seagulls on standby to have a feast
Candyfloss and greasy chips on the ground
The Bay belting out across the stage
And fairground rides spinning teenagers around
Toploader took to the stage
Boogie-Storm boogied on down
Sandcastle competitions throughout the day
Magical show-stopping firework display at sundown.
English summers wouldn’t be the same
If families didn’t enjoy fun in the sun

So tonight it is Magic over at dVerse
My magic in this is a bit like Puff the magic dragon…
“Oh I do like to be beside the seaside…”
Yes I know I always have seagulls and chips…perhaps it is my signature…
Classic tale of English summers…for some reason it transported me back to the 70’s. Martin Parr took some exceptional photographs of the English on holiday. Worth a google.

I used to play Bass Trombone in the village band and seemed to spend the whole summer playing for fetes, carnivals and walking days…. it was just a way of life…

Summer fun in the sun! No wonder we hate to see summer go.

Love how much fun you can have if you really try…. (especially with kids)

Though quite often, it’s fun in the rain! I did enjoy this one.

It’s always another world at a carnival, especially at night with all the lights beckoning this way and that. Great images, Alison.

Sounds like pure magic to me. But then, anything by the sea is magic. 😉

An English summer certainly played a song to you! May you always hear that tune.

This is great, the photos as well. I love taking my sister and daughter to things like this. You’re right – English summers are 100% about seagulls, candyfloss and a bit of sun, if you’re lucky 😉
