Lazy Sunday.
Somewhere between the sea and the sky,
my dreams fly free.
They rise and fall
on the gentle breeze
beyond the heat haze on the horizon.
My spirit with the seagull
soaring and then stalls suddenly,
shattered upon the rocks of reason.

This is my quadrille for d’Verse based on “dream”. The images were from our lazy Sunday afternoon walk yesterday. The sky was endless, the birds were amazing. In the distance you can see the sea windmills, they looked like they were dancing just above the horizon.
How beautiful. Sounds like a perfect Sunday. (And a wonderful Quadrille.)

I think we are always too close to that rock of reason… maybe even tethered…

It sounds like a wonderful Sunday and I hope your dreams will take off from those rocks of reason and fly free again with the gulls xxx

I love the way your Sunday flies like the seagull, Alison, which is reflected in the shape and rhythm of the poem. What a shame that Monday comes around so soon.

Brilliant close, shattering the dream. But dream we must, that beauty might outdo reason…

The dreams shatter at the end but perhaps tomorrow as a result of that fly stronger.

Love the imagery in this, Alison. I find nature has a huge influence on my daytime dreams, aka creative muse.

Wonderful photos of your spirit being with the seagulls before ‘reality’ shatters the moment. My dreams also soar while watching those feathered wonders. Lovely post, Alison. ❤
