This changing landscape
Is food for the soul
Misty moody blues beyond the ruins of St Patrick’s
Hues of sand and stone beyond the headland’s horizon
The mysterious mudflats home to the sandwalker of Morecambe Bay.
Wish you were here Heysham.

Oh, that title is just breathtaking. And your words took me right there. Wonderful.

I can picture this scene with its ‘misty moody blues’, ‘hues of sand and stone’ and ‘mysterious mudflats’. I’ve never been to Morecambe Bay but I think I’d like to.

I looked up the “sandwalker of Morecambe Bay”. Apparently this is a very dangerous activity with quicksand around.

It is. The sandwalker is appointed by the Queen and it is a Royal duty that is part of the Duchy Of Lancaster’s heritage. The quicksands of Morecambe bay are treacherous, and the River has a tidal bore which can be very scary. It is a beautiful bay though.

Now I have to go research the sandwalkers. Sounds fascinating. Great card/poem!
